I found this photo in my parents pictures. It was taken right after they married in 1947. I was born in 1949 and Travis was married with small children the first time I remember meeting him. We would drive to Texas every few years and visit family. My Father, B.G. Stephenson, instilled in me the importance of family. Over the years, once my parents passed away, I lost contact with most of my family.
In 2000, Uncle Bill and Aunt Jane Stephenson encouraged my husband, Jerry and me to attend a small family reunion in San Angelo. Aunt Rubene and Uncle Mugg were both living in a assisted living home. We decided to drive with our 5th wheel. I was so surprised and happy to see Leonard and his sons and Travis and his children. We had a great time and Travis made sure we could visit the old home place. See Grandpa and Grandma's house in San Angelo. I loved meeting Leonard's two sons. Aunt Rubene was so special and had encouraged me to become a R.N. (which I did). I thought, as we left, that I would not hear from everyone again as often happens.
I was so surprised when Travis called me and continued to call me once or twice a year. He kept in touch. Every time we drove through Texas, Travis would meet us and visit. He even introduce me to other distant cousin. He was so very special and I will miss him. My Father had that story telling talent and I'm glad that Travis had it too. I hope they are having a good time in heaven and watching out over all of us.---Illona

My sincerest condolences to The Mccarty Family. May you Rest In Peace sir and you are now sleeping with the angels. Thank you for all the sweet memories of laughter, shaking my head at all your silliness and most of all for letting me spoil you! I have never known anyone who loved their cookies, candy and cake as much as you did and daily!
