Obituary of Esteban Sustaita Villanueva

Esteban Sustaita Villanueva, tile installer and long-time Austinite, passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 18, 2020. He was 58 years old.
Esteban was a father, grandfather, committed partner, and friend to many. He was hard-working, and he prided himself on his family and job everyday. He was the type of person you wanted in your corner. He was kind, caring, and considerate to others. He was loyal, had tons of integrity, and always put his family and friends first, before himself.
Esteban was born on August 3, 1962 in Tula, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He was one of 13 children. In the early 1980s, Esteban immigrated to Central Texas, and soon after, he met Amelia Contreras. They began a partnership that lasted about four decades. The pair ended up having two children: son Joshua, in 1984, and daughter Stefanie, in 1987. Esteban also became stepfather to Amelia's four children from her previous marriage.
In 2008, Esteban became a grandfather for the first time. It was a title he proudly held, and he loved his 4 grandchildren with all his heart.
Esteban is survived by his long-time partner Amelia Contreras of Austin; son Joshua (Heather) of Buda and daughter Stefanie (Chris) of Austin; parents, Macario Sustaita and Eraclia Villanueva of Tula, Tamaulipas, Mexico; 4 grandchildren: Aliya, Sayde, Neveah, and Zeiden Sustaita; 3 brothers and 5 sisters; 4 stepchildren (Katherine, Frank, Tabatha, and Teresa) and their spouses and children; and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his four brothers: Ignacio, Ramon, Jose Luis ("Pepe"), and Nicolas Sustaita.
A viewing for Esteban will be held Monday, December 28, 2020, from 6-9 p.m., at Austin Peel and Son, 607 East Anderson Lane. A bilingual funeral service will take place at the same location, 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29. Esteban will be interred at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Drive, at 2 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Masks or face coverings will be required on both days and both locations, and we kindly ask everyone to social distance to keep each other safe.
