Jesse will be missed deeply by family. He remained committed to them all his life. There is an empty chair in his home from where he watched his favorite shows and from where his family history stories were heard by whoever was willing to listen. He was proud of his heritage while promoting the idea that in these United States hard work could pay off. At the same time, he understood the trials of history for himself, his family and the country he called home. Jesse lived through times when "colored people" including Mexican Americans, had to use separate faciities, worked picking cotton in Michigan, and still was able to become a well sought after professional as a Master Wood Finisher for a number of distinguished Furniture Manufacturers. He never stopped emphasizing the need to take advantage of educational opportunities, and always encourage power through the exercise of voting. I will always remember Jesse as a man who was able to overcome the obstacles placed in his way, and above else the twinkle in his eyes, which never diminished even as he was overtaken with pain in his last days. Jesse's presence will always be on this earth through the love of his family. Hasta Despues. Maria
