Obituary of Annie Pearl Johnson

Please share a memory of Annie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Annie Pearl Johnson was born to Jesse Brown and Sulie Parks on May 3, 1915 in Arlington, Texas.

Annie Pearl dedicated her life to Christ at an early age. She was a member of the St. Edwards Baptist Church, under the pastoral ship of Reverend Admiral Dewitty, and later transferred her membership to the New Friendly Will Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, now known as, the New Jeruselum Baptist Church, under the pastoral ship of A.L. Sneed, Sr.  She served under the pastoral ship of Reverend A.L. Sneed, Sr. for over 52 years.  Her stewardship and faithfulness was uncomparable.  She was the Mother of the church, and a faithful Sunday school attendee.  She sang in the choir, and was a devotional leader.  She also took care of all the plants in the church and always made sure the Pastor was taken care of.

Annie Pearl worked as a housekeeper for Colonel Rose family and June Usener’s family from 1977 until 2005.  She worked until the age of 93.

Annie Pearl loved and cherished her family.  She was a wonderful Mother who was always there when we needed her.  She also had many friends and was a well-loved member of the Montopolis community.  She enjoyed working in her yard and visiting with family and friends.  She always reminded everyone about being kind, forgiving and loving the Lord.  She loved singing “This Little Light of Mine” and she danced at her 107th birthday celebration.  She will be remembered also for her delicious tea cakes that we will never forget.  Most of all she will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit.

On Monday, January 2, 2023, Annie Pearl was called to her heavenly home, where she will fellowship with the Angels in Heaven and received her crown.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents Jesse Brown and Sulie Parks; her brother Walter Cunningham; her children Marie Richardson, Margaret Hardin, Doris Williams, and Odis Richardson.

Annie leaves to cherish her memory her daughters Gladys Scott, Georgia Steen (Johnny) and Cora Johnson; her son James L. Richardson and daughter-in-law Gladys Richardson; 26 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 70 great-great grandchildren and 6 great-great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of cousins and friends.
