Obituary of Celeste Dawn Scarborough

Please share a memory of Celeste to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Celeste Dawn Scarborough was called home on Sunday, March 13, 2022.

Celeste was born in Abilene, Texas, on January 17th, 1964 to Bill and Glenna (Brown) Mills, but was raised mainly in Houston. She was the youngest of 5 children. She graduated from Northbrook High School in 1982, and Abilene Christian University in 1986 with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. This is also where she met Mark. In 1993 Celeste’s job moved her to Austin where she reconnected with Mark. They married in 1994 and began to build their life together.

Celeste was a member of Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ in Austin. But more than that, Celeste showed Christ’s love to all she came into contact with. She let herself be the hands and feet of Jesus. She was also “mom,” mentor, and confidant to countless friends and coworkers.

Celeste will be greeted in heaven by her parents, by her sister, Linda Mills Newman, and by many aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Scarborough, of 28 beautiful years; her children, Matthew Alan Scarborough (25), and Lindsey Dawn Scarborough (23); and siblings, Bill Mills of California, Joyce Orrell of Georgia, and Robert Mills of Ohio, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Celeste was wild and adventurous, and at the same time peaceful and hospitable. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and her neighbors as herself. She had a strength and confidence about her that could only come from a pure and wondrous awe of her Creator. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her generous and lively spirit will live on in her loved ones.

A Celebration of Celeste’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 2nd at Brentwood Oaks Church of Christ, 11908 N. Lamar Boulevard in Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Central Texas Children's Home.
