Mrs. Byers was always nice and full of life when, as a kid, I’d drop by the house to visit her son,who was my best friend. She’d chat with us, and was truly interested in what we were doing, and what we thought about things. I felt I could be myself there, hanging out in her kitchen. I’ll always appreciate her for that.
