Obituary of Riley Free Jackson Brown

Please share a memory of Riley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Riley Free Jackson Brown passed away on December 18, 2021, at the age of 25. He was born March 28, 1996, in Austin, the youngest son of Terry and Brenda Brown. Riley graduated in 2014 and began working for the University of Texas in the field of communications. Advancing his career goals, he followed in his dad’s footsteps by entering the electrical field, as an electrician; still at the University of Texas.

Riley was a happy and energetic young man. He loved all sports, especially baseball and hockey. He craved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and just watching nature; as he loved all animals. Some of his fondest memories were being in Mason, Texas at his maternal grandparent’s ranch just hanging out with the cows. His parents could often find him in the pasture just laying down with the cows having a long talk. Throughout his younger years, he enjoyed riding in his paternal grandfather’s open air jeep, cruising through the neighborhood just hitting all the bumps and being silly. As his love of cars continued, his grandfather would often assist him in building ramps and racetracks throughout the house, and out the door; for his many Hotwheels cars.

As he grew older, being a thrill seeker, and much to his mother’s dismay, he loved the excitement of long boarding. The happiest day of his life was the birth of his daughter Rowen Mae. Riley hated crowds of people and he treasured his down time, watching scary movies and hanging out at home with Lauren and Rowen. Often, they could all three be found taking long walks at many of the local Austin parks.

He is survived by spouse, Lauren and their daughter Rowen of Austin; parents, Terry and Brenda Brown, of Austin; sister, Brandy Brown, of Bridgeport; brother and sister-in-law, Trevor and Summer Brown;niece, Taylor, of San Antonio; paternal grandmother, Donna Brown; maternal grandfather, Rocky Nicholson, both of Austin; uncle, Brad Nicholson and Wife Dawn of Liberty Hill; aunt, Sandy Brown, of Austin; cousin, Destrey; and family of Mason.

Riley is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather General Jackson Brown, his maternal grandmother Ramona Nicholson, and his paternal uncle Jack Brown.

Although Riley is no longer with us on this earth, we rest easier knowing he has peace and is at rest. Please hold him close in your heart, as we all do, in your mind and your spirit. He will be forever missed.

A private memorial will be held for Riley on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Austin Peel and Son Funeral Home in Austin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Austin Humane Society or a charity of your choice
