Obituary of Torrance Lavon Bennett
Our beloved Torrance Bennett was called home, on Monday, December 13, 2021.
He was the fourth child of Jerrell, Sr., and Rosie Bennett, born August 18, 1954 in Fort Worth, Texas.
He confessed Christ at an early age at his childhood church, St. Paul C.M.E. Church in Bonham, Texas.
He attended schools in the Bonham Independent School District and graduated from Bonham High School in 1972.
His career profession was in hotel banquet and hospitality services. He worked for the Hilton Inn, Wyndham, and Omni Hotels, of which, he spent 35 of his 40+ years with the Omni South Park Hotel in Austin, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jerrell Bennett Sr., and Rosie Patterson Bennett; his sister Marion Patterson; and granddaughter Ava Lynell Merriweather.
Torrance is survived by his loving wife, of 42 beautiful years, Wanda Bennett; children, DeAndra Merriweather (Darrell) of Manor, TX, and Adriane Doty (Charlvin Torre) of Little Elm, TX; grandchildren, Charlvin Torian Doty, Lynell Merriweather, and Arica Merriweather; siblings, Jerrell Bennett Jr. of Austin, TX; Lonnie Bennett (Kay) of Manor, TX; Greta Madden of Sherman, TX; Felita Henderson (Randall) of Houston, TX; Mitchell Bennett (Winnie) of Houston TX, and Anita Kimbrough (Robert) of Carrollton, TX; as well as numerous loving family members and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Austin Peel and Son Funeral Home, 607 E. Anderson Ln., Austin, Texas, 78752. This will conclude services.
Face masks will be required upon entry per family request.
Due to the Coronavirus / COVID-19 Restrictions from the City of Austin,
capacity levels are restricted at funeral homes, churches, and cemeteries.
Each person entering the funeral home, church, and cemetery will be required to wear a mask
and to practice social distancing of 6 feet or more. If you are ill or are concerned about the virus,
it is recommended that you not attend services.
The family is so grateful to everyone for their understanding, love, and support
during this very difficult time.
