Obituary of Henry Charles Henze

Please share a memory of Henry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Henry Charles Henze, Jr., 85, died at his home in Austin on Sunday, November, 21, 2021 after battling Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on October 17, 1936 in Linden, New Jersey where he lived until moving away to college. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army, where he served in Germany in the 1950s. After his service, he earned his bachelor's degree from Kansas Wesleyan University.  Henry met Frances, his wife of over 50 years, while they were both completing their master’s degrees in physics at Sam Houston State University. After spending a few years in Michigan, Henry and Frances made Austin their permanent home in 1971.  He started his research career in applied physics but soon transitioned to investment management. Henry also had a lifelong passion for automobiles; he co-founded Austin’s Porsche Club of America group and could often be found working on his old Porsches and Mercedes. In his retirement, he developed an interest in woodworking, and his passion for model railroading has been inherited by his grandson, Thomas.

Henry is survived by his wife, Frances, their children, Sarah Henze of Dallas, Helen and her husband, Thomas Aldred, Henry Henze, III, and one grandson, Thomas Aldred, Jr., all of Austin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen (Snyder) Henze.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
