Obituary of Esperanza Rosa Rios

Please share a memory of Esperanza to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Our beloved Esperanza Rios, was called home on Tuesday, November 23, 2021.

She is preceded in death by her parents Magdaleno and Juana Palacios, her brother Juan “Johnny” Palacios and brother-in-law Marcelino Cabrera.

Esperanza is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Gerardo Rios; beautiful daughters Veronica Whitaker and her husband Scott, Maria Melissa Rios, and Geraldine Glover and her husband Taylor; adoring grandchildren: Lorena, Payton, Khira, Taylor Dean, Turner, and Samuel; siblings: Maria Del Refugio Cabrera, Magdaleno Palacios Jr. (Rosa), San Juana Cabrera (Roberto), Maria Irma Garza (Aguinaldo), Jose Angel Palacios (Rosa Elia), Raquel Serna (Martin), Alfredo Palacios (Maria del Rosario), and Anita Garza (Homero); and many more loving family members and friends.

Esperanza loved her time with family most of all.  Whether it was a backyard barbeque, family night playing Loteria, traveling to Laredo to visit, or sitting around the kitchen table drinking coffee and telling stories, these were the times she enjoyed the most.  She loved her grandchildren so much that she would always have something waiting for them when they would visit her.  Many of her nieces and nephews remember visiting her and leaving full from the delicious food she would make.  Like her mother, you could always count on seeing her sitting in her chair knitting, embroidering or watching her telenovelas and like her father, she loved all types of animals.   She enjoyed traveling to the coast with her sister and family and listening to the sounds of the waves on the beach and feeling the wind in her hair.

Esperanza cherished every role she had: wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and was loved in return by all.
