Obituary of Mary Gauna

MaryJane “MJ” Gauna was a caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt,and friend. She left this world suddenly on September 20, 2021 at age 65 after a long battle with Covid. 

She was born to Domingo Gauna and Margarita Aleman on November 19, 1955. 

Maryjane is reunited in heaven with her parents, her daughter Lilivady Arteaga, her sisters, Julia and Dominga, Her brothers, Domingo, Eusebio, and Pancho.

She is survived by her Daughter DaLila Gauna, grandchildren, Zelly Arteaga, Kazuya (Pudge) Jaimes, Chip, and Levi Medrano, and a host of Siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends. 

Maryjane’s life would seem too short to many, but those of us who were Blessed to be touched by her understand that her existence and the imprint she left on our hearts exceed the quantity of time that she stayed here.

Maryjane loved having fun, she was always looking for a good time with friends and family, whether that was going out for a night on the town dancing her cares away or traveling to see different parts of the country.

We will remember Maryjane for her witty charm, her playfulness, and her occasional, endearing stubbornness. If there’s one thing you could count on, it was that Maryjane would always do what she wanted and no one could tell her otherwise. She was strong-willed and taught many in her life to be the same. 

Visitation Services will be held on Thursday, September 30th, 2021 from 5:00p.m. to 9:00p.m., with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30p.m..

Liturgy Funeral Services will follow the Holy Rosary Recitation at 7:00p.m. at Austin-Peel & Son Funeral Chapel, 607 E. Anderson Ln., Austin Texas.

Services will conclude after Visitation Services at 9:00p.m. at Austin-Peel & Son Funeral Chapel.
