Obituary of San Juana Camarillo
San Juana “Rosa” Camarillo, 69, beloved daughter and sister, was called to her eternal resting place on October 28, 2020. She was born to Ygnacio and Petra Camarillo on June 24, 1951 in Beeville, Texas. Rosa was born a twin with San Juana Maria, who passed away as a baby. Rosa was second to the youngest of 13 children. She lived most of her life with epilepsy seizures and once her mother could no longer care for her, she was admitted to the Austin State School for long-term care. Her mother, siblings, and sometimes nieces and nephews, visited her on a regular basis, especially on her birthday. Rosa was always happy to see them and cried when they would leave. When she was younger, she would get day passes to visit her mother and attend family reunions. She always had fun at those events as she enjoyed moving to the music and laughing with family.
As a life-long resident of the Austin State School (now the Austin State Supported Living Center), Rosa was well cared for and befriended by all the people who cared for her. The staff always looked out for her best interest to assure she lived a quality life. As Rosa matured, she was offered opportunity to reside in independent living, where she did very well. No matter where she physically resided, the Love for her was abundantly shared by all. Unfortunately, Rosa contracted COVID-19 and Pneumonia, which ultimately took her life.
In behalf of the Camarillo family, special thanks to Rosa’s other family at the Austin State Supported Living Center. These individuals gave of themselves daily, loved and cared for her as she was their own family.Patsy Thomason, R.N., Leslie Davis, Blessing Nwankwo, Barbara Clark, Anabella Angel, Nathifa Walls, Pam Selby, Renetta Ward, Elias Wakim, and Mary Birdsong. Special Thanks also to the medical staff at Austin Dell Hospital COVID-19 unit for doing the best they could to keep Rosa alive, and in transition, kept her comfortable.
Rosa is survived by her siblings: Manuel Camarillo (Isabel), Ygnacio Camarillo (Herminia), Jesus Camarillo (Chencha (d)), Amelia Ramos (Alfonso), Abelia Lugo (Santana (d)), Juanita Hinojosa (Mario (d)), Alicia Cox (Michael (d)), and Pat Palacios (Marvin).
She is preceded in death by: her parents Ygnacio Camarillo and PetraMartinez Camarillo; grandparents Nicolas Martinez and Damiana Estrada; brothers Ernesto, Jose, and Ramon Camarillo (Angie); and sister San Juana Maria Camarillo.
