Robert "JoJo" Mata passed away at Seton Medical Center on July 23rd, 2020 at 2:51 a.m. at the age of 66 years old due to COVID -19 and suffered pulmonary issues.

Robert Mata Sr. was predeceased by his father Amado Mata & mother Christina Cortez Mata & brother Terry Mata.

Robert Mata Sr. is survived by his loving wife Delia Mata for 46 years. They were married in  Austin, TX on May 12, 1973. 

Robert Mata Sr. is lovingly remembered by his only daughter Christina Bocanegra & husband Rick, his three son's Robert Mata Jr.& wife Michelle, Raymond Mata & wife Adalia Mata, Rolando Mata & wife Marissa, and grandchildren Melinda, Monique, Rick, Mauri, Thalia, Robert III, Adrian, Raymond Jr, Rolando Jr, Roman, Vanessa, Nataly and great grandchildren Kristalee, Adelynn, Nova. His brother Aurelio "Popeye" Mata & wife Angie, sister's Timmy Rangel, Simona Gutierrez, Sofie Ortiz, Amada Mata and a host of nieces of nephews.

Robert Mata Sr. was born in Abernathy, Tx on 11/20/1953 he graduated from Crockett High School in 1972 & went into the ARMY in 1976. He worked for White Swan (U.S. FOOD SERVICE) for 21 years then suffered a stroke & recovered & retired as a truck driver to currently be employed for the City of Austin as a Crossing Guard for 17 years at Barrington Elementry were his kids & grandkids all attended.

Robert Mata Sr.  loved to spend time with his kids & grandkids, he was a very dedicated father & grandfather & husband & he loved to watch football his teams were the Dallas Cowboys & U.T. Longhorns & to watch WWE with his grandkids & enjoyed helping A.I.S.D  with Coats for Kids, Back to School supplies for kids every year.

The visitation will be held Austin -Peel and Son Funeral Home, 607 E. Anderson Lane on Wednesday August 12th at 6:00 pm for viewing & Thursday August 13th at 7:00 p.m. for Rosary. The funeral service will be held on Friday August 14th at St. Louis Catholic Church, 7601 Burnet Rd, Austin, TX 78757 at 10:00 a.m. to follow at Cook Walden Capital Parks at 14501 North IH-35 Pflugerville, TX 78660

The family would like to thank everyone who has offered condolences, sent cards, and flowers  & sent meals for the family and also who dontated to our Gofundme & benefit & who sent contributions. The memories you've shared with our family have really helped our family cope with our tremendous loss.

Due to Covid 19 pandemic, we understand that not everyone maybe able to attend funeral services and we ask that you continue to keep our family in you daily prayers.
