Austin Sterling posted a condolence

On behalf of the my dear mother-in-law Ann Mary Ott Bradley and my beloved wife, Beverly Bradley Sterling, we send our love and support to all of "Uncle Bill's" family. Bill Ott leaves a legacy of kindness, courtesy, friendship and love. His hearty handshake and big smile welcomed me into the family over forty years ago and every time since. He was a man of great faith and principle...he lived his beliefs and he was unabashed in doing so. Integrity and honesty were pillars of Bill, built on his faith and discipleship to Christ and His Church. His friendly personality was as big as Texas. Bill's wit and "storytelling" was renown among family and friends. Family was the center of Bill's life, not just Dottie and the girls, but brother Bernard and sister Ann Mary as well. When tragedy crossed the lives of Ann Mary and her family, Bill was there for them. I believe Bill truly understood the concept of "agape love" - loving others without condition. He knew the love of Christ and lived a life where he shared that blessing. Every time I saw Bill, it was as if we had just seen each other last week...I am grateful to have known Bill Ott...my life is better for having known him.

The world needs more Bill Ott’s
We need more Bill Ott’s in this world.
Honest, self-giving, faith-filled, loving.
While many lead lives of gloom and desperation
Bill chose a positive outlook, always ready to strike up
a friendly conversation with anyone.
While many focus on their rights and reparations
Bill saw that duty is inseparable from rights
And so, he chose to serve his country during WWII,
risking his life to save those of his fellow servicemen.
While many have lost their faith,
Bill stayed close to Our Lord to the very end;
a rosary was always at his bedside.
While many choose not to marry or have children,
Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather,
great grandfather, father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and brother.
Family was everything to Bill.
You see, life is really about choices. Bill made all the right choices
in what really matters: honesty, duty, family, faith, and self-sacrifice.
That’s why we need more salt-of-the-earth people like Bill.
Oh Lord, we thank you for the life of Bill Ott.
Please send us more men and women like him.
Thank you.

Can't put it any better than it was was written in the obituary, I will always remember summer trips to Austin to ride on his boat, and stay at their house. He was always joyful and thinking of others, and yes, a very good "ghost story teller" on the front porch at Nana's house! Thank you for showing us how to live a life of love, commitment to family, and above all, love for God!
Love, your nephew, Bill Bradley

I can't imagine a finer brother in law to have than Bill. I thought of him more as a brother than an in law! I hope to join him again up there in the not too distant future!
