Eleanor was a client of mine years ago and for a short time before it became imperative that she leave her home, I was consistently checking in on her and helping as I was able. It broke my heart when I lost touch with her. I tried for many years to locate her, and just came across this obituary. Although it saddens me to know that I will never see her again on this side of heaven, I have a peace knowing that she is surrounded by loved ones once more. She was an amazing woman and I feel blessed to have known her. She will forever be dear to me.

Eleanor popped into my head this afternoon, so I googled her and was surprised to learn that she passed just last August. Eleanor was my next door neighbor for 12 years in Austin until I moved out of the state in 2002. She was a great neighbor and a a dear friend! We looked after one another and pretty much every day spoke on the phone or over the common fence that separated our townhouse units. Eleanor loved a good story and could spend hours spinning yarn after tale if I let her. Did you know she was a published author? She wrote a children’s book, about adoption I believe. We corresponded for a few years after I moved, but lost touch after awhile. I hope her final years were good ones, and that her passing was peaceful. Love you, Eleanor!

I only learned recently of the passing of my Aunt Eleanor. Because of distance and her illness, once she left her home we lost touch, but I am comforted to know that she was surrounded by affection in her final years. She was a remarkable woman, who thrived even though her early life was so difficult. She trained as a Social Worker at the Meninger Clinic in Kansas in the early 1950's, then moved to Texas where she worked for the State for many years. Her visits were always an "event"; she would pull up in a blue Thunderbird convertible!, something unheard of in my small town. For years she had long red fingernails and wore her bright blond hair in a chignon. She was glamorous, funny, active, loved her home and was multi-talented - she even played the trumpet. I am glad she is at peace and was so well cared for.

My sweet Eleanor, thank you for the Love and Lessons you gifted me during our time together. We had a way of communicating we didn’t need words for and you are a Beautiful Soul!
Although the idea of missing you physically is painful, the freedom and health you are submerged in now gives me Peace.
It was a true honor to have cared for and loved you the way God intended for me to. I will forever cherish our times together. Your Beautiful, warm smile. The way you Loved to eat and the feisty side that showed when you needed to express your feelings of displeasure. To still be heard, to still be respected.
I told you once that I was adopting you as my grandma, you smiled, I’m going to say that was your way of approving. We will always be family my sweet Ellie and you are always with me; in my heart!
Love Infinity
Linda Lou
