Obituary of Richard Delmar Rolph
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On July 14th, Richard Delmar Rolph left his home in Austin to join his God. Nearly 81 years ago, on 7-20-1937, he entered this world in a farmhouse near Delphos, KS, the eldest son of Max and Maurine (Arheart) Rolph. He later earned a BS from Kansas State University, where he was highly involved as a campus leader, married Thana Lee, and began a family. He served 2 years in the army, completing service as a Captain. Afterwards, his work as an ag chemical engineer and salesman took the family throughout the Rocky Mountain region. When Richard was seriously injured in a plane crash, he reassessed his goals and decided to take the family back to Kansas. There he built a large commercial hog operation, which won national acclaim within the industry. In more recent years, Richard has done a variety of things, including smuggling Bibles into China, working with missions in Haiti and Kenya, and running a Bible institute in Saltillo, Mexico. In 1990, he and Thana followed two of their daughters to Austin. For many years, they ran a photography business. On the side, Richard loved building furniture for family, toys for grandkids, and many other creative, wooden items. He excelled in all he did. He was a natural leader, enjoyed people immensely, and touched many, many lives through ministry. Those who will miss him dearly include his wife of 60 years, Thana, of Austin, daughters and sons-in-law Cindy and Dennis Dautel of Austin, Cheri and Stewart Mayott of Ft Collins, CO, and Debra and Rex Gore of Austin. He also leaves a sister, Jolene Aldridge, of Delphos, KS, and grandchildren Rikki Sierra with husband Danilo, Curtis Mayott with wife Sophia, Lahra Dautel, Karyn Mayott, Nolan Gore with wife Joanie, Matt Gore, Cale Dautel, and Josh Dautel with wife Tara, all of whom live in Texas or Colorado. Richard also leaves two little great grandchildren. Arrangements are being made by Austin-Peel and Son. Memorial donations may be made at www.abbaconnect.net. A memorial service will be held July 21st at 2:00, at True Life Fellowship, 1600 E. Old Settlers Blvd in Round Rock. To plant a tree in memory of Richard Rolph, please visit our Tribute Store.
